Seborrheic dermatitis is generally referred to by many as simply “dandruff”. It is a condition where there is flaking of the scalp. What makes this condition uncomfortable is that because the affected area becomes oily or dry and itchy. The tendency is for us to scratch it which results to an embarrassing condition as sometimes the flakes falls to our clothes. The flakes become visible most especially if we are wearing black.
The most common solution is for us to buy a dandruff shampoo from our nearest drugstore or grocery store. For mild cases, using a dandruff shampoo alone will remedy the problem. However, for some people, they need a stronger solution to make it go away.
There are some cases of seborrheic dermatitis that does not only affect the scalp but also the face down to the chest, creases of the groin and up to the arms and legs. The causes of this disease is still unknown but some people believe that it is hormonal related. Excessive intake of vitamin A is also believed to cause this disease. If you are suffering from seborrheic dermatitis and if ever you used a dandruff shampoo but the condition still persisted, the best way is for you to consult your dermatologist as they can best diagnose your condition and prescribe a specific shampoo or medication that will improve your condition. Don't let this scalp problem stop you from enjoying life. There's always a solution to any skin or scalp problem if given with the needed attention earlier.
