Causes of Skin Irritations

July 4th 2010 16:21
Our skin is one of the most important organs of the body. It protects our body from many harmful environmental factors that would lead to infection, skin irritation and certain diseases. However, sometimes we develop skin rashes from different factors like the foods we eat, the cream and lotions we use, pollens and many others. An itchy skin is a very uncomfortable condition and it makes us feel uneasy and unable to do the things we need to do.

What are the specific causes of skin irritations? As mentioned above, some of the causes of skin irritations are the foods we eat. Some people are allergic to certain kinds of food and once we eat them, our biological make-up develops a negative reaction to it and this results to itchiness and red spots on our skin. The best remedy for this is to determine which foods we are allergic to and avoidance of these foods. Detergents and house cleaning agents may also cause skin irritations. Frequent washing may strip away our skin's protective moisture which will lead for our skin to lessen or even lose it's ability to protect our skin from the harmful chemicals added to these agents. Still, the best solution is to choose carefully the washing and house cleaning agents that we use. It would be best if we choose the purest and the most natural ones.

Some skin irritations also appear on the scalp. A scalp rash may be caused by different factors like dandruff, bacterial infection, ringworm of the scalp, eczema, hair lice and many others. If your rash is caused by dandruff, it is best to use a shampoo that is anti-dandruff. If the dandruff persists after you do this, it is best to consult your dermatologist. Bacterial infections may be remedied by using anti-fungal or anti-bacterial ointment. These are usually available at your nearest beauty stores. If the condition continues, the best way is to visit your dermatologist.

Skin irritations nowadays are easier and faster to treat with the new products and treatments being offered in the market. However, it is best to treat it immediately so scarring of the affected area would be avoided.
